Deciding on what to pack for Los Angeles in summer requires deep thought.
For starters, days are warm, but nights near the beach can get chilly.
PRO TIP: Keep an eye on the weather in the days leading up to your trip.
On top of that, you also need to consider what you will be doing while you’re there as far as activities go.
You want comfy style by day, glamorous attire for brunch, and sexy outfits for nights out in Hollywood.
It’s recommended to take a little bit of everything, practically speaking of course.
Pack these must-haves that will have you effortlessly fitting in with the LA scene.
Sightseeing by day
Comfy screen tee: A screen tee is a perfect opportunity to rock a vibrant color. Walking around all day will get hot, so you don’t want to be bothered with tight clothing that will show every sweat mark. Instead, opt for a comfy tee.
Jean shorts: classic denim and black ripped shorts are my go-to choices! They look great with cute tops or classic tees.
Walking shoes: White vans are my go-to for any casual look. Grab the All-Star II for Nike insoles.
Crossbody purse: This is going to be your go-to purse for your whole trip! It’s lightweight and keeps the hands free.
Nights Out in West Hollywood
Skinny black jeans: if you want to keep it casual, which is probably the best choice, then throw on a sexy pair of pants.
Off-the-shoulder top: jazz up the jean look with a cute top.
Wrap dress: if you prefer a dress, a wrap dress is always a cute night-out option.
Sunbathing in Santa Monica
Beach towel: Can you really sunbath without a fun and colorful beach towel? Plus, the sand can get really hot in those summer months.
Beach tote: A tough fabric beach tote is necessary. You can throw in all your valuables knowing it won’t be damaged.
Bikini: You’re in California, a bikini is a requirement duh!
Bathing suit cover: If you hit the boardwalk or local shops, you can quickly throw on a cover-up.
Flip-flops: Stylish flip-flops that won’t be ruined in the sand and water.
Sunnies: Got to protect your eyes. Plus these Quay sunnies will go with all your outfits.
Hiking to the Hollywood Sign
Baseball cap: How better to represent LA than by rocking a classic Dodgers baseball cap?
Black yoga pants: Make sure to bring one with pockets for easy phone storage.
V-neck tee: Let’s be real. You want to still look good for the photos at the Hollywood sign. Ancient old gym shirts won’t do.
Backpack: Having a small backpack to carry water, snacks, and a few misc. essentials are necessary. Even more so if you’re carrying a camera.
Walking shoes: This hike is not that difficult. A simple pair of Nikes will suffice.
Downtown Street Style
Jumpsuit: A light fabric, yet stylish jumpsuit is perfect for flaunting your best self in downtown LA. Plus, they don’t take up a ton of space in the suitcase.
Ankle boots: Because every city girl needs that versatile pair of ankle boots.
Tote: I like to call it arm candy! Grab a fun design for added style to your overall look.
Brunch in Beverly Hills
Sexy sundress: See and be seen while wearing the perfect sundress. Guaranteed to turn heads.
Strappy heels: Throw on a sexy-simple heel. Make it a colorful one for added style.
Basket purse: The latest purse trend is definitely the basket totes, which means you absolutely need it!
Shopping down Melrose
T-shirt dress: You want something that is easy to take on and off when you’re trying on dozens of clothes
Cross-body purse: With all those shopping bags, no one wants the added weight of a heavy purse
Sandals: Comfy walking shoes easy to slip on and off.
